KoboToolbox

A free platform widely used by NGOs and humanitarian organizations. It offers free hosting, a friendly web interface, and easy data export. If you are a nonprofit or a student on a tight budget, this is usually the place to start.

ODK (Open Data Kit)

The open-source toolkit that started it all. ODK gives you full control: you can host your own server and adapt the system to your exact requirements. A strong choice for research institutions and projects with their own IT capacity.

SurveyCTO

A paid, enterprise-grade platform known for reliability, encryption, and advanced quality control features like audio audits. Preferred by large research studies and organizations with strict data protection requirements.
